It's not that the whole tech industry, the whole entertanment industry, pretty much the whole western industry more than proved in the past 20, 30, 50 years they are more than willing to make decisions that hurt them financially in the long term for a short term relief.

It is that Youtube has done that pretty much continuously ever since Google acquired them. Think about it, using your own argument: it is in Youtube best interest that the gaming videos with the most live views appear in their Gaming Section
