Depending on how long ago you tried blender I'd recommend going back in. It's gotten a lot easier to start and in the past few years the plugin market has exploded with tons of great stuff for free or extremely cheap. Retopoflow, biome reader, polyhaven, and layer painter are all open now and can be downloaded for free on github. Ever since the 2.8 update a ton of usability features have been added too, namely fuzzy search in the command list.

Weakening of the yen, at the time I had somewhat of a financial pad, lack of motivation etc etc. Mostly I just wanted out of the whole scene.
