Modern society and social media has made people addicted drama, cheap sex/vulgarity shock value and connecting through ideology (people are more socially disconnected than ever).
These things hijack people's brains like a drug, displacing their ability to have normal, wholesome fun and normal human connection through shared human experience, wholesome interaction, appreciation of fiction, music, beauty of nature and such. Fuwamoco mostly cater to this healthy type of entertainment, therefore it feels bland for zoomers/modern entertainment addicts who are increasingly anxious, stressed out and depressed because of it.
I can feel the draw for drama even myself, but over time I've learned that people like Fuwamoco make me healthier and happier.
Also, you need certain level of maturity, confidence and culture to be able to enjoy so called childish content, which lots of western people just don't have. Many people claim to be okay with whatever, but in reality it just doesn't sit right with them, unconsciously. Western content's gravitation towards cool and intellectual content relative to Japanese content for example, is very clear.
