You looked at IT departments for non-tech businesses, especially smaller/family owned ones? I know it’s a step down but if it gives you time to show reliability and create programs to help out the backend management, or at least work on your own programs to build a programming portfolio you might have a better chance. Diversifying helps sell your capabilities too, like going into network management or database programming as soul crushingly tedious as it can be. They tend not to hire people straight out of college, but want to see you have some work experience at least in a similar environment
