A combination of both the carnivore-like diet of main timeline /vnug/ (have to be territorial when your food source is limited and can run from predators) and intentional engineering by their creators to separate them from the common humanity. The non-human physiology and somewhat different psychology also makes them constantly aware non-belyms are not belyms. I would say they’re always aware of difference between humanoid (sub)species but I guess that would be the norm for this site

Somewhat more varied but potentially a result of the need to cooperate due to the hostile environment not unlike main timeline /vnug/. Might also be an engineered trait by their creators to suppress hostility from them. I guess the fanbase itself isn’t very tribalistic either

Likely originating from the focus on hunting group of main timeline /vnug/ where high coordination is necessary to survive and acquire food. Further emphasized by shipboard discipline common for most non-Despina belyms – unlike on Despina (or humans on Earth for that matter), neglecting personal responsibility or ignoring others in need usually leads to immediate and painful death for everyone on board due to how fragile their life support system tend to be. Belyms also don’t handle solitary as well as humans due to their more collective nature

The emphasis on responsibility probably means individuals aren’t necessarily as free as modern first world – societal tolerance towards screwing around is much lower due to how lethal it could be for everyone sharing the same space. At the same time in-group cooperation and prominence of redundant system means belym society is more decentralized and fluid (at least compared to the usual hydraulic despotism), and individual belyms are more eager to participate in decision-making process. Unlike implied in the movie (and the novel?) the military probably doesn’t play a very heavy role (maybe except among moleyms as their shipboard life means most roles probably have a military vibe to it).
