Normally when I teach people with real tiles I use a teaching method that's impossible to replicate online (since it's mostly practice), and Mahjong has a ton of complex rules, it's best to learn the basic ones and the rest over time, learning by doing. Regarding lectures or videos, there are decent ones explaining the bare outline of the rules that are ~20 minutes long, but the best video I know is 3 hours and 30 minutes long.

I'd generally recommend reading https://repo.riichi.moe/guides/how-to-play-video-game-mahjong.html not to be completely clueless, and then going through the tutorial on https://mahjongsoul.game.yo-star.com/ which is an English client of the game. Yes, there are more professional game clients, but they are in moonrunes and look like they came from 2005. After that, learning by playing games and from your own mistakes, you slowly get a feeling of the whole game and it kind of clicks, so don't be scared by the complex rules.
