In their meeting today, the US central bank (the "Fed") signaled that despite lowering interest rates today, they will likely keep them a bit higher throughout 2025 than most people anticipated. Higher interest rates means that any entity looking to raise debt, especially the US government selling bonds to fund its budget, must offer higher returns to attract buyers. This makes US dollar denominated debt more appealing to investors. So: demand for US bonds increases -> demand for dollars to buy them increases -> US dollar go up.
