Thing is, the KR scene in general has a longer history of experience with this kind of streaming culture. Since 2017 there were pngtubers that used models (that didn't move) as their avatar while streaming. So everything that the current EN and JP fandom are going through has already happened in KR multiple times before.
>Safe to say they have no problem with male-female collab as long it's not too shippy ( i heard this is a problem in some KR vtuber/streamer scene)
The pngtuber scene decided to use shipping as a method to deter unicorns/gachikoi. Unfortunately, that strategy also has it's downsides, as when shipping drama happens it's usually much more difficult to deal with as the streamer themselves are emotionally affected. I've seen quite a few shitstorms happen over shipping gone wrong, but yes, it's quite common to see here.

You have no fucking clue how bad it is. If Koreans discover any Korean Hololive talent having sympathies towards that kind of ideology the schizo rampage will make Chinese and Japanese antis look like a joke in comparison, I mean shit like sending protest trucks and other stuff.

>early Korean vtubing scene
Well it's not really vtubing. The pngtubing meta in Korea was a thing since 2017 where streamers in the early Overwatch scene would represent themselves through characters (like pic-related) similar to how Vtuber kayfabe is today. However, the pngtuber community don't really see eye to eye with the vtubing community, and at least on the vtubing community side of things, they don't really consider converts 'legitimate' vtubers. There were a few other actual vtubers (like SE:A, and Choi) but they were too few and died too early to have too much of an impact on the streaming scene.
>makes me wonder if gender segregation and unicorn pandering only becomes the industry standard after hololive
This is definitely the case. I don't remember this being an issue before Hololive. It's especially interesting seeing how the KR styled vtubers and audience is trying to reconcile these issues.
