After Myth debuted, people used to say that the excellent scouting and choice of talents is due to a requirement for being very knowledgable and care about Hololive and vtuber culture. Most in myth have theirstories about being very invested into a few, and Mori (who DOES love Hololive) at the very least is good friends with Milky Queen and hadher opinion flipped before getting in.
Then Kobo got in and confessed right from the get go that she knew next to nothing up until a few months before debut. You could shitpost about this but I just think it's a misconception a lot of people mistake for a reason to gatekeep "real idols" from people who just love streaming and can and will go the unity idol route if accepted.
