I saw the Dragon Quest vs Pokemon comparison going around and I couldn't have possibly rolled my eyes harder lmao This is if anything a great example of how you can have 2 designs based on the same creature and have them come out completely differently.

Regardless of anything I think Palworld's a fun game but yeah as a casual Pokemonf an for years even just a cursory glance at the designs make it pretty obvious and seeing people actually directly match it up with Pokemon models only further reinforces it
