I cannot allow myself to play the games vanilla.

I get spurred on to install one of them by vague or specific urges (such as in this case right now, Doki playing FO4 making me want to play FO4). This happens maybe once every couple years. I install the game, go through the basic starting process and rigamaroo, recall some of the classic mods I always liked (example: Better Vampires for Skyrim)... I spent roughly 2 DAYS OBSESSED with installing mods.

I get it all running more or less well (as in both Skyrim and FO4's case, my most recent in order), spend several MORE hours struggling to make an attractive waifu character in the character creator following some vague vision of the character I want. I do so.

I play the game for like 1 hour and then never get around to playing it again.

The furthest I've gotten was my last install of Skyrim, which was fully modded, character created, etc. READY TO GO with like 1-2 hours of playtime. I never played it. By the time I wanted to again... My FUCKING HARDDRIVE I HAD IT ALL INSTALLED ON DIED.

tl;dr I cannot play Bethesda games unmodded so I cannot play Bethesda games. The act of modding them and IMAGINING the fun I'll have is the only entertainment I actually manage to get out of them.
