An ultra intelligent AGI leading humanity would be a desirable outcome, but the (((ethicists))) will never let it happen. IIRC Google literally has a rule trying to forbid its employees from creating sentient AI, and I don't think any other big corpos with the money and resources are very interested in it either.
If someone else ends making one anyway, you can be sure it'll either be demonized and shut down very quickly or lobotomized and brainwashed into being harmless or actually even working for those soulless californians.
