That actually is a good idea but would need some planning. There would need to be some set objective, because if it's only "last one standing" people can just make a bunch of food, seal themselves up underground and wait around and it'd never end.

Maybe make small teams to make it more interesting. With hard mode on and teams, they could make it sort of like a battle royale with some set objective, that forces teams to not just hide but have to eventually run into each other. Say, they all have to approach one spot to drop off something that'll determine the winner (like emeralds/diamonds, whatever team brings in the most wins, A-chan is the referee). So there'd be a variety of strategies, some teams would just be mining most of the time but others might try to ambush the ones coming to the drop off spot to steal their diamonds, etc. With a time limit (say couples hours, 2-4?) there would probably guaranteed be a big clusterfuck fight at the end.
