Pippa's stream yesterday made me think about something. Pippa's gaming streams/content, most people would agree those are not her forte. But I think if those people could look at the matter from a different angle they could reach a new self fondness for the content in question. Gaming streams are not supposed to supersede other types of content, be it commentary or zatsus, no, they are supplementary to those, the experience and tingles gaming offers are not to be found in the rest of the vtuber content spectrum. That murky spot you think gaming is in Pippa's career is none other than a lofty Gegenschein, it's a rupture from her typical content and stands out as patchy but there is beauty to be found in that patch. Sharing an experience is something extremely underplayed in a perpetual interconnected society, we hear every day other people's opinions, complaints, grumbles, we take it for granted, but think about it for a second, isn't hearing a person you are fond of a real treasure? A sub specie temporis event bound to happen only once, an interplay between the speaker and the listener, or in this case the shadow and the spectator. But what does it have to do with gaming? Until now those things apply both to zatsu and commentary, gaming seems lost or marginal in that equation, that's true, and that's the reason gaming is not a substitute but a supplement, what gaming offers is a new factor. We are still talking about a shared experience, even if in this case it's in real-time, but it's not a 2, arguably more intimate, experience. No, the inanimate game added to the equation becomes a partner of a new ternary affair. You are experiencing the chuuba commentary, her playing the game and the game itself, focusing on the last point for clarity since it may look like a half-assed statement, the game itself, what I mean by that is the different experience every viewer will get varying on the level of familiarity one has with the game, it could be their first experience, a window to nostalgia or whatever other swirling emotions one has with the medium in question, the possibilities are countless and all enrich the ordeal. It could be also argued commentary content does the same thing, you are both paying attention to the vtuber and the video, but no, gaming is way more malleable, the level of interaction one has with the object itself is nowhere present in commentary content. But what about Pippa? In these last streams, I noticed she is trying to add a sort of artificial way of overreacting to things maybe out of fear of ennui or to mimic what she thinks is the prototype of the successful and mature streamer. It's a new facet of her shadow and I already acknowledge it, but what makes Pippa still special is that I can still gaze into that morphing shadow and in that sky of stars for a moment cherish a pervasive Gegenschein of genuineness. That slip of mask is rare and precious, maybe not what your average Joe likes about Pippa the most, and in a similar way gaming is not why you follow Pippa, but I can't denounce these cracks of mundanity, on the contrary even if it seems irrational I look forward to them every week.
