Forgive me for writing a lot about something nobody is going to read. I just want to get it out of my system. Maybe other Haatons can share their experience if they have something similar they want to share.

I have never liked streams as a concept. I should not be consuming vtuber content once streaming became the main focus. But I have been a huge fan of Chammers, a streamer, for many years. Further, as someone who cares about purity way more than 99% of Western chuuba fans, for whatever reason, I have been a Haaton for years. I haven't really understood why for the longest time why I tolerate streaming, and why Chammers acting like Chammers (not very idol-like) is okay when I don't like it when any other chuuba does this kind of stuff. Upon self-reflection, I truly believe I was slowly lured in and didn't realize it until I was already a big fan.

I was into vtubers back during late 2016 or early 2017. I watched Kizuna AI primarily, and I never really branched out until later. I occasionally watched some others. However, I don't speak Japanese, but everything was subbed back then luckily. I miss those days a bit. Once streaming became the norm, I should have stopped watching vtubers. I don't like streams. Clips and fan content are nice, but ultimately I should have quit then and there.

But then I stumbled upon 4 chuubas who spoke English: Haachama, Coco, Pikamee, and Hana. This was basically the only non-clip way for me to understand any chuuba. I ditched Hana the moment her "father" joined the stream and just some other things I didn't like about her. Pikamee was a good chuuba, and I did watch her occasionally, but I never felt anything special about my experience with her. Coco was pretty fun, but I viewed her more as a clown (in a good way). She was fun to watch, but not at all someone I would get emotionally attached to. Plus, she was VERY unseiso, something I typically don't like.

Now we get to Chammers. Out of all four of these English speakers, she was the first to debut. Her English was very questionable. In fact, she used it less than any of the others. She definitely was not seiso, even in the beginning. While she used to make plenty of non-stream content, that hasn't happened much in recent times. So, with all of that being said, why did I become a Haaton?

Sort of what >>46904352 was jokingly alluding to, I fell into a trap. I watched a few clips and an eigo stream. At the time, she didn't do anything I was aware of that was unseiso. Keep in mind, she DID do unseiso things by then, but I had not known of them at that time. Once I learned about it, I was already hooked. Something about her Engrish, her laugh, her creativity, and her likeability eroded my typical pickiness. By the time I became aware that she wasn't the purest in the world, my mind was already quick to do mental gymnastics to justify it so I would keep watching what I have grown to like. It was a slippery slope. By the time she did the lingerie stream a couple years later, I had already gotten to a point where anything is fine as long as Haachama did it. But yet, I am judgemental as all hell about any other chuuba. As for needing English, I gradually needed it less and less as her Japanese is not all that complicated. She doesn't even use English much anymore anyway, which is funny to me since that was my initial reason to watch her.

I was lured in by someone who I perceived as seiso, spoke English, and did content other than streaming. But yet, she got me to stay despite basically doing only streams, being very unseiso, and hardly using English anymore. I was tricked by Haachama, but I don't regret it. I will be there for her always.

TL;DR I was legitimately lured in by Chammers when I had a different image of her in my head, but I was corrupted into enjoying her as a diehard fan. Even though that one anon who said she tricked us was probably making a joke, I was legitimately tricked, but I will never leave her side.
