Yep, found a way to change a mask to a color.
Time to make a workflow that repeats the process enough times to have about 9 colors if needed.
The nice part is that I think an actual image can be used as input to draw on top of and make more complex masks than just squares and then the same image could be used as i2i or controlnet input I guess
