Also keep in mind that even if there's very few people, Youtube seems to not always show your messages in the Top Chat, which is what I assume streamers read off of. No idea what the criteria for this is besides not emote spamming or if there's some temporary shadowban for doing so. Basically if your chat shows up in the on-screen chat window then they can see it.
