It’s a bit far away and the climate zones aren’t connected now but if we assume this planet has a geological history similar to Earth then I can see most of the continent’s equatorial highlands once belonging to the same vast steppe-tundra during the Last Glacial Maximum! When the planet warms up the different highlands become separated and ten thousand years should give them enough time to evolve into different species. Maybe /morig/ has a similar plant to /vnug/ that shared the same ancestry from that time and they’re still similar but not identical? (in case you want to add your own spin to it)
I also started thinking about what kinda plants and animals will /vnug/ have. My idea for this version of dreamwort’s similar to the Saussurea obvallata plant I posted back there. It still has the same magical properties that it uses to survive and growth even in freezing temperature, but unlike the old /vnug/ tundra this time the freezing winter comes every night so I imagine its effects are more intense. A side effect’s that the flowers (technically the bracts) will glow during the night as they keep themselves and any bees hiding inside warm. Their magical heat makes them more cold-resistant than most herbaceous plants so most of the /vnug/ moorland’s dominated by them, turning the entire heath into a starry sky at night! I imagine /vnug/ people will assign a spiritual meaning to them, like the plants are where dead souls reside to help the living. It’s fitting because I plan to reuse the same magic system from old /vnug/ so a lotta magic juice will come from the essential oil, leaf water and honey from plants like this! (plus other plants like the giant groundsels) I tried to make a new genus for plants like these but the best I can come up with is Psychestia
For the cloud forests I’m thinking of incorporating some form of mycorrhiza but I haven’t worked that out just yet
