Being poor is precisely what should make you understand how bad those people have it, i don't need to fucking know them to understand it is worth to help them, because the simple fact that someone needs help is already more than enough for them to deserve it, i understand not being able to help them because you yourself are not economically capable of it, i am not saying you should give them your house and become homeless yourself just to feel good for 5 minutes or so, but if helping another person literally would take nothing from you (or take something that you could easily gain back and that is repleceable) and you still don't do it, then what reason is there other than pure selfishness and individualism taken to its most extreme?
