it took me an hour but I was able to brush up on my kana so I'm ok there I think. I guess my katakana reading might be a bit slow. I'll definitely try to stick to content that I enjoy even if it's too difficult. I've also used spaced repetition as a system before but never used anki before - I looked it up a bit and I think the premade decks remind me a bit too much of rote memorization I did at school, so if I use it I'll try to stick to making my own cards. I'm not a chinese speaker but I do speak Estonian, English natively & Russian more or less fluently so maybe it'll help me in some way.

itazuraneko looks like a great resource! bookmarked this one for sure. the manga OCR looks especially awesome since I imagine looking up kanji would be very hard without knowing the radicals to search for them.

I agree with the idea of immersion. I learned English almost entirely from Runescape 15+ years ago from zero by just interacting with objects in the game and it was especially nice since the game would tell you exactly what the object was if you right clicked on it and also provide an short description (clicking on a man would show 'one of Gielinor's many citizens' for example). I guess with Japanese this would not be possible due to not being able to read the vocabulary if it contains kanji (although it looks like there are some nice games like pokémon which have furigana). I've read a couple of VN's in English and it's definitely fun but I think it'll be a very long time until I'm able to read something like that in jp since it's a novel after all lol.

but thanks guys! I downloaded Chi's Sweet Home & Yotsuba for now and I'll try to read a few chapters every day. I'll give the taekim guide a quick skim as well but I think even if I read it through, it probably won't make that much sense until I actually solidify the grammar patterns in my head by just banging my head against some reading

I'm really glad Kanata decided to do a lot of the superchat readings in a video this time around - she's been getting really behind on it in part because she can't help herself from chatting during it which puts her even further behind and it just feeds itself perpetually.
I expect this to happen again though, because Kanata is Kanata.

I was skipping the Wawa stream because I thought I wanted to play the new FE myself but then I remembered I don't even have a switch so I don't know why I did that.
Forgive me KFP, Kiara love.
