>And it's so much more convenient that I don't have to translate Japanese in my head the whole time which gets tiring and makes me tune out.
Just making sure, are you actually trying to translate the Japanese sentences into your native language in your head on the fly while listening or was this metaphoric? If you're actually doing it, that is a very common mistake many people new to foreign language learning do, but you're absolutely not supposed to do that, that would be very tiring indeed. I'm not very good at explaining how to do this, but you're supposed to try to understanding the sentence in Japanese directly. You will start associating the words you hear with intangible concepts, rather than native language words and you'll be able to decipher the meaning in your head on the fly without using your native language as an intermediary - just like you do in your native language. This might sound overwhelming at first but it's just a matter of listening a lot of material for practice (which can easily be done by watching streams).
