Kirby is just a cute puffball so surely he'll lose to just about everyone in the Smash roster, right?

There's no way someone like him who can only beat Dedede in a wrestling ring match at the end of the first Kirby game do better than that, right? Because obviously fictional characters can never ever get stronger. Everyone is a static mannequin with a permanently set power level.
Especially shonen protags. They just forget what they learned immediately after each fight so even if they bring the first opponent they ever faced back at the end of the series, the rematch is guaranteed to be just as exciting.

This mindset is so flawed I can't even.
