Not gonna lie, former Hololive fan here. This is fucking hilarious watching Yagoo crash and burn. But in all seriousness we can't let this guy get the acceleration codes

To think 4 years ago it was Tanigo himself operating the model to try to sell his software to HTC Vive exec and customers

Back then they were operating under the assumption they were a tech company providing the tools so "anyone can be a vtuber".
Cover likewise btw, Sora was nothing but a glorified mascot which, like Hatsune Miku, ended up becoming the product

>Also, there's HTC Vive as a shareholder. Are they planning for a VR takeover?
For fuck sake, how new?

Cover is a VR company from the start that hired a high school idol and her best mate as their showcase, and then lucked the fuck out on finding a niche that allowed them to pivot into entertainment.

There is an universe where Sora said no, Tanigo went ahead with his VR PingPong, got bought by Oculus and now he's heading Facebook Meta

>the fact that they're willing to dip their toes into multimedia stuff like games and music
You surely realize Cover was a VR game company first that accidentally pivoted to entertainment when they expanded the hand tracking demo for their "Virtual PingPong" to animate a full avatar; and then hired Sora as the mascot and subsequently made the Roboco model and hired someone to give it life.

I don't think "Cover investing in gaming technology" is too far away from their DNA as a company

Anon, they started pretty much as Tanigo, Sora, YuujinA and a skeleton staff of maybe 3, as literally "a small startup", even all the way to Roboco model being ready but not debuted

>That just speaks for the growth they had.
True. Not four years ago Tanigo was PERSONALLY doing tech demos and manually operating what would become Roboco model.

I doubt they even had any revenue back then and were still in the "tech demo" stage to raise funds.

>Hopefully it's because Bushiroad or some other company is doing the Hololive gacha for them
>Otherwise Cover is actually retarded
I would say a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.

Think about it: Hololive started because Tanigo was betting his ass on how VR characters (like VR Chat) would take root and they had software made for it (see webm).
They never ever EVER EEEEVER *10^26 thought they would become an "entertainment company", talent manager and multimedia producer in their wildest dreams
>not even 4 years ago
and most definitely didn't have the manpower, expertise or even the inclination to do so.

They're pretty much a typewriter company that ended up succeeding at manufacturing machine guns by some twist of fate, and now are in the industrial machine complex supplying the whole Japanese army
>with pretty much the same staff they had before

When this video was made

>Mito and Kaede were already the Top 2 most viewed vtubers (based on live CCV)
>Sora as a way behind fourth, the best position she would hold from them no
>Roboco had just debut
>Fubuki was half a year away from debuting
>Nijisanji would dominate the top charts for the next full year, with the best Holo being Fubuki six months down the line barely making it to the Top 20

AND THIS WAS NOT EVEN FOUR YEARS AGO!

I seriously doubt ANYONE would ever imagine how the vtuber scene would be 4 years after some meme CEO made a demonstration with a barely cobbled together proprietary software to give life to anime catgirls on the cheap.
