the reality is probably more complex than that. it's likely that the "knockoffs" are made on the same manufacturing line in the same factory, but it would also be common for them to substitute some different parts to keep cost down. they are probably also selling them at much closer to cost than cheero does. i think anyone who bought them realized that a significant fraction of the price came solely from the licensing tie-in. the electronics are surely the same, because there are only a small handful of companies that make bluetooth audio SOCs, and unless you're sony or apple you just buy from those chip makers.

it's less likely that people are aware of the giant markup on headphones in general. your typical bose or samsung TWS also costs only a small fraction of its retail price to manufacture. "$10 for a bulk aliexpress order" and "$120 retail" imply very similar manufacturing costs.

the closest thing to a proper review of the groove coaster/hololive earphones i found was this review of a related model (which uses the previous bluetooth 5.1 revision of the SOC) that's likely very similar:

the frequency response isn't particularly amazing and it's about what you'd expect from a cost-conscious consumer-oriented TWS product. assuming that this reflects how they sound, then they are okay. but, again... you simply don't buy these because you're looking for high-end reference headphones.

ok, i found someone who measured one. general bass boost, weak pinna compensation, early treble rolloff. it's not terrible.
