Mahjong game rules are easy to understand if you put in a bit of time.
Mahjong SCORING rules, on the other hand, are a completely different kettle of fish.
The mahjong playerbase would be a hundred times smaller today if most mahjong wasn't played online and they had no computer to handle the calculations for them.
