I was there then so I guess now I feel like a boomer.
It's just us boomers are now working members of society that can publicize their childhood heroes and thus it gets more easily noticed.
It helped that during the 90's those were the "cartoons" almost all children who watched TV grew up with.
A lot of athletes now have gone to be pro fútbol players because they watched Captain Tsubasa, for example.
The Dragon Ball Saiyans were mostly a child inspiration for many as a lesson on perseverance and slight machismo fortitude which is ingrained in most Latino societies.

That and pretending that screaming made you stronger in any way was an easy way to delusion play as a kid with your friends and beat them up in the play field. A lot of us spics don't have father figures so someone fictionally strong like Goku was a semblance of a shadow of one for many.
