I just hope I get a chance to hop in the train before I reach wizard status since I'm now five years away from it since last week. My older brother got to see Coldplay last year with his gf and was amazed by the whole setup and everything, if I can't rally my friends I'll just try and go solo to whatever I can find out there.

Also regarding your point about genres and I discussed this a long time ago, I despised cumbia and reggaeton, I still kind of do but even lesser nowadays, but I'm cool with other genres, rock, rap (the ones from the NFS and Midnight club games and made me also acquire a taste for vroom), 90s/early 2000s techno, pop, hip hop (my mom used to own some cassettes she played often), these are the genres I grew up with as a kid. Lounge, Jazz, Vocaloid and J-rock/pop slowly caught my interest from listening to anime OP/EDs on my pre-pubescent and teenage years... I think I can say that I'm mostly fluid regarding this factor.
Unfortunately I had a personal experience in the theory the person next to you will have different opinions and can mean agreeing on some things would be impossible (one friend liked pop, despised alternative rock, one loved reggaeton and found english songs unappealing, another one thought hip hop was cringe and was simply uninterested in music altogheter), which fucked us over in the end because that meant we never really went out and experience something far away from our hometown. I still regret it to this day, and probably they do so too.
