It's different in that it wasn't ever "a thing" a la Takamori, it was like the other fan ships except way more popular due to early collab frequency and process of elimination (i.e. people wouldn't seriously pair Ame/Gura/Ina with Kiara or Mori back when Takamori was "alive" so that left you with 3 non-Takamori options).
The worst of it was when people freaked out after they went from collabing every week for a short period of time to a more normal frequency.
