I'm retarded and you're correct that that's not what the help article says but I specifically remember watching a video where the guy said he gets more from Premium viewers than free viewers on average. The gist of it from his video description:

The way I understood it is that the share of your Premium sub that goes to the channels is split across whoever you view. See picrel for another youtuber's breakdown of revenue per view for a free view and a premium view. According to him, the difference in earnings per view is roughly 43%.
