For the new Nijifrens, here are some tldr on /meat/ or Matiyotl's foreign policy. It's a doozy to read.
1. Non-interventionist
Matiyotl would never start wars nor does it wishes to intervene with its neighbours. We're pretty content with what we have. Land and resource-wise we have no form of revanchism. As part of our belief in the cycle of suffering, we make full use of what we already have.
2. Economic transition
Matiyotl is currently switching its piracy/raiding doctrine into a mercantile one. Selling our domestically grown exotic goods abroad. Also putting an end to raiding the coasts of our potential customers. That means no more slaves and kidnappings right? Hahahahaha-
3. Excessive espionage
You see, kiddo. Old habits die hard. We can stop the raids and the pirating. But we're fundamentalists. We need to keep our rites going, our people are zealous and will not end their forefathers' legacy. So we have to do a little adjustments to our methods but still keeping the end goal. How excessive is our espionage tactics? It's as follows
>Step 1: Indoctrination And Conversion
As our traders travel to sell their wares, or adventurers and mercenaries hired by foreign powers, they brought with them their religion. Spreading the word of the inevitable apocalypse, of the bubble collapse, of the end of the heavens thanks to the bloated population of immortal big corpo chuubas. These faux-missionaries spread their words into foreign nations as they accomplish their primary objective. The Matiyotl adventurer you hired could be seen giving books to locals, the workers in Risuland, the Varangian Guards in Infinity, and even an adventuress in /nasa/. Planting the seeds for which new followers are made. The peoples in far lands receive the truth why their world is on the brink of collapse. Cults of true believers.
>Step 2: Cells And Agents
The religion of Matiyotl is organised and very methodical despite its practices. Members of the cults abroad are not just believers, they are agents. Informants, spies, saboteurs, you know the drill. As nobles, merchants, and generals are convinced into joining the faith, they become our eyes and ears. An entire merchant's guild becomes an agent of Matiyotl trade, dukes letting the cult spread in their domain, generals ready to assassinate their colleagues to prevent enemy nations from starting.
>Step 3: Soft Power
If a nation suddenly wishes to invest in Matiyotl services and goods in a manner of months, that's a sign their economic administration ahs been infiltrated. If a local baron intentionally turned a blind eye towards raids in a coastal district and instead purposefully invest more into relocating people there, then the noble is a collaborator tending sheep to be slaughtered. If your general, minister, megacorp guild owner, or any person of high status and influence attempt every ounce of their life to prevent any form of aggression against Matiyotl, then they are agents.
>Conclusion
While Matiyotl is transitioning away from raids, our networks in foreign lands, controlled by men of power, allows for a new method of acquiring blood sacrifices for our faith, sentient species trafficking. Transport ships carrying civilians would go missing under piles of bureaucratic tape, with leaders practicing smoke and mirrors to hide their existence. In truth the people on-board have now become indentured servants in Matiyotl. Simultaneously, our agents influencing foreign trade ensures we have a steady market of people buying our goods, with ships exchanging fruits and jewelry with sentient species. Our exotic trade becomes the front for our religious trafficking.
Our agents will try their hardest to make sure the nations we infiltrated turn a blind eye against our activities and even support us. If a courtier or politician ever shows the slightest hint of aggression, he will be taken out. If they ever declare war on us, they'll find their entire chain-of-command slaughtered instantly as the declaration is made.
Matiyotl may not be a warmongering nation. But it is a parasite. Sucking up manpower and resources from its neighbours.
But if there's one thing you can trust us, it's integrity.
Anyone we allied with are blacklisted from population trafficking and other unsavory activities.
