What made CAI special IMO wasn't the model itself. The fact that they trained it with internet RP logs certainly helped, but it wasn't just that.
It was the mysterious bot training thing too. It allowed for individual bots to be differentiated enough to the point where they'd almost feel like separate models. Normal models have claudisms, GPT-4isms, and everything else. Even CAI also had its CAIsms like growing tails and blushing red like a tomato, but it also added another layer with whatever the fuck it is that they'd allow to be done with each character.
I wonder if one day the Pyg devs or someone else will figure it out and be able to replicate it. I sure hope so.
