There's no other genders so I'd say it's just a human thing really. Humans just plain don't like being wrong or being told what they're doing is wrong. Reasons and reactions are ultimately details. The main difference between men and women is that men accept criticism from peers, superiors and friends far easier but that just doesn't apply in a viewer-creator relationship.
