You're in luck, because some chinks are converting the entirety of PvZ2's base version to PC from scratch. It's an almost perfect recreation of the original before EA fucked it over.
It's still in development though. There's a lot of missing text but the game works. So far, it only has the first 3 worlds.

The only downside is that they included the touch screen power-ups.
The upside is that it's not bogged down by the engine limitations. That means the game can have the pool levels because you can have 6 lanes rather than PvZ2's fixed 5 lanes.
