You're free to waste your time on your meaningless "reps" if you like, but you should know that most Japanese teenagers are only really speaking Japanese around their parents and teachers and whatnot these days anyway. When they're out with their friends it's all English, and in another 5-10 years all the entertainment media in the country is going to catch up. You are figuratively cucking yourself if you waste your time learning a language that's actively being phased out by its own population.
