my account was made in 2009. I ended up transferring everything from my "Brand" account onto my main google account since it had no youtube account. The only things I lost are my membership days ecause it is treated as a "new" youtube account and my watch history. My videos, playlists and subscriptions have remained.

yeah I found out about this today, its why I wanted the transfer. Might not have done it had I known my badges would reset.
