If you want to draw better torso, I suggest the method box I learned about a year ago. you start off with a rectangle, warping it in any shape you want the torso to be. then, since the hips are wider than the shoulder area, slim the rectangle into a trapezoid. afterwards, place dots where you want the waist to be. all that's left to do is just connect the dots and waist more natural. pic related is is a bit rough, but I have made good mileage with this.
