They used to collab a lot more in the past, yeah, and they did a song cover (Turning Love) which made a lot of gachis mad. Kanae said it was her idea to do it and he doesn't like turning people down so he said yes, plus she was generally pushy in collabs and I've seen some older clips where the atmosphere between them seemed super awkward, which basically never happens with Kanae and his collab partners. Even with all that, I don't really hate Hoshikawa herself (and I thought the song was cute), but the hetshipper fans are absolutely cancer, and it doesn't help there's a lot of EOPs that only know the both of them through clickbait clips.
This is probably an unpopular opinion on this general but I can actually enjoy female collabs and interactions since they stay professional but Hoshikawa just invites way too much hetshipping and I'd rather not deal with that.
