I'm sure I've seen someone mention it in end-of-thread discussions before with some anons, but not often, A lot of it is untuited like many other 'unspoken guidelines' in subcultures by the way people tend to respond to ops with a "oh hey that's my post in the op, neat" which is pretty neat. A lot of it IMO is tied back into using an image from the preceding thread, which then in turn also helps determine the edition. So that rather than pushing ones own interests or just being generic and unnoteworthy, it captures the zeitgeist of the previous thread and carries a bit of that energy on to the next, sorta keeping the wheels going at a steady pace in a way.
This might not make much sense, I've rarely had to put into words a wordless structure so forgive me if it's a bit incoherent.
