I think it's to get viewers to find other streamers who associate with each other or are thematically related. One example that stands out is this one, which goes by a more western aesthetic and a vaguely D&D like theme. There's some artist groups too, stuff like that. It's like a "if you like this maybe you'll like these" but without the algorithm meddling.
