There are apps, but you need to measure stuff at least at first, after that you learn to properly eyeball things. If you dont do any physical activity, simply going for walks, not drinking sodas and/or stopping snacking between meals is enough to start losing weight. The most important thing is to develop discipline to follow through with your plan, so small steps like this that you know you can stick to are the best at first. If you will be able to stick with that for two months or so, then you might feel good enough to start thinking about going to a gym or doing a calisthenics routine.
