Thanks for the bread! Here are some unsolicited mahjong tips and rules for this anon of last thread >>75205820 and anyone else who wants to listen to my ramblings, because reviving the Nasfaq Mahjong rooms with new players would be nice. Also, holos have been playing Mahjong a bit recently, so you could understand the streams more. The tournament Koyori and a pro organized where Aki, Fubuki and Haachama got into a team were pretty fun!

Mahjong is a game where you need 4 sets and a pair to win (usually) plus a yaku. A set can either be a sequence (1-2-3) or a triplet (1-1-1) At the start of your turn, you get one tile from the dealer and discards one tile in your hand, with the objective of getting closer to the 4 sets and pair. But beware, even a hand with 4 sets and the pair can't win as long as you don't have a yaku. The match ends when someone gets points below 0 or that you are at East 4 or South 4 and someone has above 30K points, more on the winds later! Each player starts with 25K points.

You have 5 types of tiles in Mahjong: the green tiles of bamboo (sou), the black tiles of dots (pin) the numbered tiles with kanjis (wan/man), the Winds and the Dragons. There are 4 copies of each tile in the game, for a total of 136 tiles, the sou, pin and man tiles go from 1 to 9, the Winds are North 北, West 西, South 南 and East 東, and the Dragons are the kanji tiles colored in Red, Green, and White. Winds and dragons in the game are often called honor tiles. The Dragons have the Wh, G and R natations in the image, and the winds have the N, E, S and W letters, Mahjong Soul (gacha/mahjong game) allows you to add these in settings.

Any triplet of dragons is an automatic yaku, so if you have 2 of one type, it might be good to hold onto them in case you get another! Each player has their own wind shown on their sides of the scoreboard, if you get a triplet of your own win, that's also a yaku. The winds assigned to players rotate clockwise after each round unless East wins a round in this order: East -> North -> West -> South. The East player is the dealer, they get 50% additional points whenever they win a hand. However, if another player wins by Tsumo (more on that later), the dealer also pays more than the others two players who didn't win.
