your intestines, mouth, hair and skin, etc. all have a natural microbial ecosystem that does... a lot of stuff, but also helps prevent minor infections and outbreaks. if you kill everything, you are allowing any random wild microbes or contamination to take root, or even normal ones but in a weird concentration.

a commonly recognized example is drinking too much alcohol disinfects your gut, causing all kinds of problems, and a less common example is mouthwash exposing you to bad breath and cavities. a weird subtle one is antiperspirant, which when you go off it, your skin isn't ready to handle the extra nutrients (from sweat) returning to your pits and you stink like crazy until you return to equilibrium.

i figure the anus is a danger because it's right where intestinal microbes meet with skin microbes, so you don't want it to be weakened. the skin is also thin there and stuff can get into your bloodstream.
