Hmm~ I'll see what I can do. I've been theory crafting a small story of just everyday life in one of the towns, probably taking place a bit before or during the squirrels visit. Hopefully that'll give something to work with. Unfortunately you're talking with the out-of-the-loop hooman who's still trying to catch up a bit. The bakery would be in the large port town, correct? What's the current status of the civil war? I remember the principal being largely ousted from power before I had to take a break from these threads for irl stuff.

Semi-related note. I know no final decision has been made on location names, but I'm just gonna go wing it and go with Eulhaven for the port town and Wholexandria for the more inland capital for now because I personally think they sound good.

Last night I started picking my (innie) belly button out of curiosity from Mumei constantly mentioning belly buttons. I'm a bit of a germaphobic perfectionist, so I continued picking with my nails, and even began using tools like a small screwdriver and a pair of tweezers, to clean out every speck of lint and black gunk that I found. I woke up this morning and my belly button was crusty and secreted a slippery-sort of liquid. I guess the skin of the belly button is a lot different from the skin on the rest of your body. This liquid had a very strong scent to it, fishy and almost like vaginal discharge. It wasn't like peeling the dead skin inside your ear or nose, because the juices that coated had a much stronger aroma. It felt inflamed and I had to do my best to avoid picking at it until it healed.
I don't know what this owl had me doing, but I have a strong urge to do more research on this "belly button fluid," and uncover the depths of the healing process of a belly button. This owl has me by the belly button. I can't escape.
