>be a vtuber
"Worship me because I have a microphone and internet connection."
>do your best to stream and entertain people
"Give me money even if I'm not actually good at my side hustle."
>collab with your fellow vtubers
"You have to like my friends because I like my friends."
>despite dealing with bullshit
"Abloobloobloo why do I even have to do any work or overcme hardship? I only quit my job to become a vtuber just so I could get paid to play video games and insult people all day."
>schizos
"REEEEEE STOP SAYNG THINGS ABOUT ME THAT I DON'T LIKE!"
>permissions bullshit
"REEEEEEEEEEEEE JUST LET ME MONETIZE THE USE OF YOUR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY FOR FREE! What, someone is monetizing fanworks featuring my likeness? SHUT IT DOWN! SHUT IT ALL DOWN!"
>general drama
"Why do people not give me a free pass for saying stupid the deaf things in public? I always did the exact same thing to others, but how dare they treat me the way I treat them."

>this board
Basado board.
>don't even watch the streams, just read the threads
If the streams were entertaining we would watch them. It's not our fault vtubers are all trying to commoditized themselves by copying hololive instead of specializing with a niche.
>regularly produce rrats that don't even have any reflection on how the vtuber they are based on are
If en chubas won't feed an en board good content, then of course we'll make our own.
>exaggerate small dumb bullshit nobody cares about into stale memes that get old a day and drag them out for months on end
"REEEEEEEEE HOW DARE YOU NOT SHARE MY SENSE OF HUMOR!"
>don't even like vtubers
The concept is fun. The talent is lacking. Those Macross 3d concerts on YouTube are a great example of what peak vtubing should look like. Anime should arrive to be anime. That fact is absolute.
>still have the audacity to think that vtubers should pander to them because "we're not a hugbox"
Imagine being such a narcissist that you think people should financially support you even if you're not offering them entertainkent they enjoy.
>Why do we even think we deserve vtubers if we're this fucking pathetic?
Because vtubing has yet to reach anywhere near the height of its potential. Current vtubers are, for all intents and purposes, mostly rank amateurs. There's nothing wrong with treating them as such. You're not just competing with other streamers. You're competing with jpop, kpop, anime, manga and other more established anime characters' merch.

The one advantage vtubers have is that they're allowed to be self aware. Anime characters are usually an empty she'll to be filled by seiyuu and used however the IP owners wish. Vtubers just have to outcompete mindless corporate drones with heart and soul. But it's hard to do that with an ironic weeb streaming mentality. That's the weaknesses of.most vtubers. They haven't truly cast aside their human self and embraced the chuuni attitude of a self aware, genre savvy anime character.

True Vtubing combines improv and acting to not just hide behind an anime avatar but also bring it to life. This is vtubing's appeal. Regular anime characters can't be interacted with even if their seiyuu can be. By livestreaming as an anime character, vtubers can not only entertain in real time but also connect with fans on a level that tightly controlled corporate IP can't. The industry will only further evolve to embrace the style of living breathing anime characters interacting through the internet with consumers, and those who don't shape up will get shipped out. This is the macro view of vtubing that OP seems to lack. It's not just a hobby. This could unironically be the future of anime voice acting, with seiyuu tied down to voicing and streaming as one character at a time.

You faggots don't realize how early we are. Indie vtubing will eventually become even harder to gain traction in, much like indie comics and indie animations. The only thing that offsets it will be the far greater scale of interest in vtubing once corporations' catch on and start leveraging their IP. It's not guaranteed, but some pre-established character tubers are already starting to materialize.

Gura's design isn't the best, but she's a cynical brrat like Shion and that's worth some chuckles.

Pengy just turned out to be a godawfully boring waste of a good design. There's not much heart or soul in her performance. The scenery is woefully unchewed. Microphones haven't been broken. She doesn't seem cheerful or energetic. This isn't anime.
