akina has cried on stream over sad games and over their loss for vsai, but as previous anon said, in retrospect akina has probably been dealing with this for a lot longer than we even realize. i would be surprised if he allows himself to cry about mayu openly, since this is a level of personal he's usually not comfortable sharing, even if mayu started out as just a coworker.
though i remember after vsai akina was so excited about meschers and said that with the fanfare around vsai and fuwagusa live they would probably be allowed to do stuff as meschers much more often in the future, so maybe he didn't know as early as i'd want to think. i wonder if mayu officially decided to do this in may and that played a part in why akina ultimately went quiet on his account--it would make sense with how gungho he was about meschers and then suddenly went completely silent about it. it makes me sad to look back as a meschers hako and see all these things that've happened recently that at the time i thought were weird, but suddenly make sense now. vsai really was their last tourament together. i didn't want to accept that then, and i don't want to accept it now.
mayu and fuwa were already friends before joining niji so i can see them still collabing as roommates, but akina's level of private outside vtubing means i'll never get to see him openly interact with mayu again and that's incredibly painful.
