pic rel made me think about the confusion that a lot of /lig/gers had about Holo having "subpar" models and wondering why holofans didn't care about it.
The thing about high tier holos is that their personality and entertainment value are what matter first and foremost. If you have the greatest, most realistic model in the world but you can't entertain people for shit, then why would anyone watch you?
Holos get fanarts and even animated representation of iconic moments which their models might not accurately convey, but the personalities and the entertainment value is big enough that it doesn't matter. One of the best skits in HoloJP was done with 4 hand drawn in a school kid artstyle (https://youtu.be/VNxObENJDms)) and it remains an iconic hololive moment that JP fans continue referencing to this day.

And inevitably when Cover upgrades their tech enough that this personality can be SHOWN in Live2D (or Home 3D in some instances), holofans cheer, because it's a QoL improvement.
I'm wondering why many indies and indie fans think that having some sort of ultra realistic model is supposed to be a substitute for having an entertaining personality that goes beyond your model.
