Now before I release this information, you need to understand how the whole worship for Idols in Japan is fairly toxic to the point that many idols have even got themselves killed due to the entire twisted image of an idol being a perfect being that is there to be worshipped and simped upon. Whether you agree to it or not, Hololive acts as an Idol company. The only difference is there are some elements that have been loose (like drinking and swearing), but some are still kept. Keep this in mind.

Now for the information: Kiryu Coco has a boyfriend. Yes, an actual boyfriend. This has been known to her roommates since the beginning of the year. It is not known whether he actually knows that she works as a vtuber, but there might be a possibility that he does and that he might have been involved in the decision for Coco to leave vtuber career as a whole. But the main reason alone was definitely her Japanese fans, particularly those that view her as an idol. Why them? Do you guys remember March last year, when Towa accidentally left her mic on and a male voice was heard? Do you remember how much people bullied her to the point that she issued a public apology and had to take a break. A similar thing happened to Mano Aloe when it was discovered that she had a boyfriend, she basically had to quit hololive at that point.

Now Towa got lucky because she is not a huge vtuber unlike Coco, and Aloe managed to get out from the fire early, but this is Coco we are talking about. Coco has a massive fanbase and a very good portion of those are Japanese, and you bet your ass there is a significant number of those that view her as an idol. If Coco was to be found out, not only would her reputation take a massive hit, on top of being a target by Zhangs, but also Cover as a company itself. Just imagine, one of the biggest faces of the company has an actual boyfriend whom she dates? What if other girls have them as well? Rushia, Gura, Korone, Fubuki? Japanese idol fanatics would go on a massive outrage and it would take months of damage control for Cover to come back, and even then, their reputation would be ruined forever.

You think I might be redirecting the hate on the japs, but this is true. Towa and Aloe are prime examples of what happens, and those are just small fishes. Now could Coco actually hide this information? Yes, but for how long? Kanata had tried to convince Coco to stay and just have her dating done in secret, outside of streaming, but Coco would constantly say how that would jeopardize the entire career girls have been building, she wasn't willing to have the entire Hololive ship sink because of her dating. She would have to choose to either abandon her love interest and continue being committed to hololive or leave. And she decided to choose second, as she felt that she cannot maintain her idol imagery with her boyfriend and that by leaving, she would not put others in danger of being attacked by the angry idol mob.

TL;DR Coco has a boyfriend, Japanese idol fans being a good portion of her fanbase hate their idols having a boyfriend and are known to react violently to that, so she quit.
