When I was little, a babysitter taught me how to always wake up from nightmares by scrunching my eyes closed super tight in the dream, physically very forcefully. When I open them again, I'm awake.

I've never had a death dream in my life except when awake after having mushrooms a few times. I've had a few kind of scary ones, like being chased or stalked, but they're rare. The only time I ever get really scary dreams is when I'm only half asleep. If I ever sleep on my back I have a pretty decent chance of experiencing sleep paralysis after waking up in the middle of the night. Often completely paralyzed, almost always with audible hallucinations, visual hallucinations are rare but I've seen them for sure.

Most of my dreams are "house" dreams. Since I was young, almost all my dreams are me exploring giant, mostly empty buildings or houses, going from room to room, through hallways, up or down stairs. It's a little bit backrooms-y, but even though they sound like they could be creepy or scary, they never actually are. They're always very peaceful and I never get that "something's watching me" feeling of sleep paralysis. I'm just exploring this big infinite maze of a building with weird/dreamlike architecture but it's always interesting and cool. Kind of like how it would feel to explore a big mall or your old high school at night, but you're with friends and half the lights are on and there are a couple teachers in the building somewhere. No danger or anxiety, just cool exploration of a familiar-feeling place in an unfamiliar-feeling context.
