Otsonny!! Well, the upturned was certainly the game of all time, more than I bargained for. Even the first 10min of the stream was a good indicator of the mess we were in for— forced to be Sa Bri, much to his dismay, sonny made his way to the isolated upturned inn and had to fight for his life to get to his room on floor 1431. This game definitely has character! I almost don't want to call it a kusoge... it's shit at times and the 2x speed gameplay is inherently disorienting but the goofy physics are nothing to sneeze at, sonny seemed to really like throwing shit around and messing with the mechanics. The gameplay loop for each level is pretty straightforward; the elevator breaks down again, so you have to venture out onto the floor to find the fuse and bring it back to fix it, guided by the founder Ik with his little quips and bizarre dialogue over the phone. Plenty of puzzles, enemies and scares were in store. Ah yeah, this game ended up freaking both me and sonny out a lot more than I expected. I mean... I was really sleepy when I first watched which probably didn't help, but there's a floor with water inhabited by some terrifying lizard creature that was like something out of rainworld — took sonny a lot of tries to get past the section and it was legitimately stressing me the fuck out HAHA. I did not like the living mannequins at all either. The atmosphere and environments are pretty well crafted, very backrooms-y with the variety in the environment (sorry I meant backrooms in the 900-level entity way and not in the original way, for better or worse)... I'd expect an arcade in a hotel but not crows or a museum. The plot was a little incomprehensible, I see we still must discover how our good friend Sa Bri (apparently) died before coming here but beyond some of the quirky lines from Ik I wasn't really following the worldbuilding, I don't think sonny was too much either. He commented on it feeling like it was trying too hard sometimes which I don't really disagree with... I'm glad he enjoyed what he played though! 7hr game and he's got around half of that done, and he does plan to go back and finish it some other time which I look forward to. I think? I'm kind of scared about what other horrors are in store now... Sonny got jumpscared REAL badly a couple times though which was a bit of a treat, can't complain too much. We'll see what happens next time, Mr. Bri!

As for MC later... don't hate me, but I felt a bit neutral about this one! I do like the dynamic when collab partners are really comfortable with each other and this one had some silly moments, e.g. uki finding the bunny shack and it's kinda funny how sonny left him to work on the build while he just fucked off and did other stuff, but a lot of the time it just felt like I was third wheeling a 3am discord call..... Sonny loses out on some of his autistic silliness that fills the silence in certain collab dynamics which is kind of unfortunate, and that isn't an attack on Uki, just something I notice. A lot of people enjoy that SUPER comfy vibe, it's not really for me— different strokes for different folks I guess. That being said, it was a pretty productive day. I also have... very mixed feelings on the changes to VSF kek but I know they don't have to be permanent. It's awfully friendly for a futuristic jail, though putting my bias aside I'm sure some of the server's denizens appreciate something a little easier on the eyes. The prismarine has already grown on me at least and the cafe is kind of neat, and I do like the banner out front. Hopefully sonny can make some changes to the exterior while incorporating the advice/improvements uki gave to create something that feels more like a police station again. If anything, please find some way to bring back more yellow, it's not the same without it! T_T I guess if sonny likes it though that's what matters. It is just a video game after all... After that they spent some time working on uki's tattoo parlor which is coming along pretty nicely, sonny did a fair bit of busywork by fetching materials for uki, and he also ventured out to the end to gather end rods so the parlor could have some cool lighting of its own. Overall, not a particularly notable collab, very chill though. I noticed sonny also got some basic redstone working in the interrogation room. Maybe the deceptively inviting police station with unspeakable horrors in the basement is fitting after all, who knows. Either way, I look forward to seeing him work more on the roof next time, since that's really one of the last things on the list, huh? ...Aside from the sewer at least. Next week, surely.
