The issue is that if you're inpainting that much then you probably care about small details. And the entire image degrading that much is a pretty reasonable problem. Here's the first time I really noticed it on a gen I was inpaiting

You're right, it's the way the option is displayed makes it seem like enabling the setting will do as the text describes rather than the text describing the active setting
